Job description

OverviewJohns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support patient care at Howard County General Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine. In this role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult, pediatric, and neonatal (NICU) patients while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes. Why Join This Opportunity?

Compensation
  • Competitive pay with rates determined based on experience, credentials, and relevant respiratory therapy background.

Schedule: 

  • 3 12s 7:00 pm - 7:30 am every other weekend rotation and Holidays as needed
    Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory assessment, treatment, and monitoring for patients experiencing cardiopulmonary compromise.
  • Administer a full range of respiratory care modalities, including:
    • Invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
    • Inhaled medication and aerosol therapy
    • Medical gas administration and oxygen therapy
    • Humidity therapy
    • Airway management and maintenance
    • Bronchial hygiene and airway clearance therapies
    • Chest tube management (NICU only)
    • Blood gas collection, analysis, and management
    • Intra-hospital patient transport
  • Perform diagnostic testing and interpret clinical data to evaluate patient response and make evidence-based recommendations for continued care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Participate in clinical pathways and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, providing critical respiratory support when needed.
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, and discharge or home-care instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record documentation, including clinical charting, billing, hand-off communication, and regulatory compliance. 
Qualifications
  • Required 

    • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field required.
    • Current Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner License required.
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
    • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

    Preferred 

    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification strongly preferred.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification highly preferred.
    • Previous experience providing respiratory care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) preferred.
    • Experience caring for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient populations in an acute care hospital setting is a plus.
