PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is primarily sedentary. However, there may be some physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, carrying of light-weight items.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is normally performed in an office environment, requiring no special safety precautions. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated.
MAJOR DUTIES
  • Provide advice and assistance regarding legal requirements, processing, documentation, evidence control, record keeping, and reporting of program operations.
  • Obtain and process a variety of paperwork associated with the ELSUR program.
  • Maintain ELSUR physical evidence and ensure chain-of-custody is preserved.
  • Organize and maintain records and control systems (to include automated systems) for tracking, monitoring, and reporting on ELSUR activity.
  • Transfer data from ELSUR devices to portable media.
  • Maintain close working relationships with agents, support personnel, representatives from other agencies, and U.S. Attorneys.
  • Research, analyze, and identify problem indicators and make recommendations regarding improvement of the ELSUR program.

Specialized Experience (SE)
GS-7: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-6 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Provided advice on established policies and procedures to internal and external contacts
GS-8: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-7 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Prepared formal reports related to program activity
  • Prepared, edited, and stored multiple forms of media to support program operations

GS-9: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-8 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
  • Maintained evidence while adhering to chain-of-custody procedures
  • Recommended process enhancements to increase program efficiency and effectiveness
  • Prepared, edited, and stored multiple forms of media to support program operations
  • Conducted formal training events related to program requirements
Education
All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:
GS-7: Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or one (1) full year of graduate level education. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official transcript, or as based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership.
GS-8/9: Education cannot be substituted in lieu of SE at these grade levels.
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
