  • This is a highresponsibility role supporting timecritical delivery operations
  • This role has structured working hours; however, flexibility is required, including availability for urgent after-hours fleet support as needed
  • You will regularly manage challenges related to vehicle issues, compliance, and maintenance
  • Clear communication and proactiveness with drivers, dispatch, and leadership are essential - issues must be addressed early
  • You will be expected to perform and be proficient in basic vehicle maintenance for both diesel and gasoline units, including oil changes, tire changes, inspections, and routine upkeep, and to complete these tasks as needed.

This role is best suited for fleet professionals who thrive in a structured, fastpaced environment, value accountability, and take ownership of ensuring vehicles, equipment, and drivers operate safely, efficiently, and reliably, with a solid understanding of vehicle maintenance and mechanical fundamentals.

Job Description:

As a Fleet Manager, you play a critical role in keeping our local, timecritical delivery operations running smoothly by ensuring all vehicles, equipment, and fleet resources are safe, compliant, and ready for service. You are responsible for managing fleet operations, maintenance, vendor relationships, and driver coordination to support dispatch and delivery execution.

You'll work closely with dispatch, drivers, vendors, and leadership using fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and maintenance tracking tools. Successful Fleet Managers in this role are proactive problemsolvers, strong communicators, and driven by preventive action rather than reactive firefighting.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support a safety-first culture, reinforcing proper procedures and decision-making
  • Manage the full lifecycle of our fleet vehicles including acquisition, registration, maintenance, and disposal
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly maintained, inspected, and ready
  • Identify, coordinate, and/or perform vehicle maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire placements, fluid checks, and routine inspections to ensure fleet readiness.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime
  • Coordinate vehicle repairs and maintenance with minimal disruption to dispatch operations
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards
  • Monitor driver compliance related to vehicle safety, inspections, and reporting
  • Partner with dispatch to ensure proper vehicle allocation and route readiness
  • Serve as a point of contact for drivers regarding vehicle issues, safety concerns, and support
  • Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve all fleet-related issues impacting operations
  • Manage vendor relationships including repair shops, leasing partners, and service providers
  • Track fleet performance metrics, costs, and maintenance activity
  • Maintain accurate records in fleet management systems and tracking tools
  • Communicate delays, risks, or issues to leadership and operations teams promptly
  • Build strong working relationships with drivers, vendors, customers, and internal teams
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to fleet efficiency and cost management
  • Maintain a professional, calm presence during high-pressure situations

Work Schedule

  • Primarily office-based, with on-site interaction with vehicles, vendors, and operational teams supporting Arizona delivery operations
  • Standard schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility required to support evolving operational needs
  • Occasional after-hours support may be required for urgent fleet issues

Training & Support

  • Structured onboarding and operational training
  • Hands-on coaching with experienced leadership
  • Exposure to fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and compliance tools
  • Ongoing collaboration with dispatch, operations, and leadership teams

Qualifications

  • 21+ years of age (insurance requirement)
  • 3+ years of experience in fleet management or similar role
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of diesel and gasoline vehicle maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, DOT regulations, and safety standards
  • Ability to identify minor vehicle issues and determine when internal repair or vendor support is required
  • Experience with fleet management systems and GPS tracking tools
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions quickly
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
