Schedule/Hours: 5 days a week (Monday - Friday) from 7 AM - 4 PM (or as needed or project)

QC Manager Job Summary:

The Povolny Group is seeking a full-time/permanent QC Manager (CQC - Contractor Quality Control System Manager) for a large government project at James Lovell Veteran's Hospital (VA) in North Chicago, IL. This project is part of a multi-million dollar modernization effort to upgrade data cabling systems, including computers, networks, and phone infrastructure. It's aligned with the hospital's new Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program, ensuring a seamless integration of upgraded technology for efficient healthcare services. As the CQC System Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of this critical project within a hospital setting, emphasizing construction quality control, adherence to project specifications, and safety protocols.

QC Manager Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain the CQC system on-site, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with contract requirements and established standards
  • Monitor compliance with project specifications, drawings, and codes. Address any deviations promptly and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including quality control plans, submittals, and test reports. Keep accurate records of all construction and inspection activities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of construction work to verify that it meets the required standards. Identify and report non-conformance issues and collaborate with project management to resolve them.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise project personnel to ensure they understand and adhere to quality control procedures
  • Maintain open and effective communication with the project team, subcontractors, and client representatives regarding quality-related matters

QC Manager Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field
  • 5+ years of construction experience in government, industrial, and/or commercial projects
  • Successful completion of the Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Construction course
  • Proficiency in specialized areas such as electrical, mechanical, structural, environmental, and architectural aspects
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong quality control capabilities
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and subcontractors
  • Must be computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and email

QC Manager Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety certifications
  • Experience with data cabling (installation, maintenance, and management)
  • Previous experience in government construction projects
  • Experience on projects for the Army Corps of Engineers highly desired
  • Understanding of a hospital/healthcare customer setting (knows how to communicate with medical staff onsite, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the EHRM program or similar healthcare infrastructure upgrades
  • Proficiency in Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) barriers and safety protocols
  • Knowledge of infectious disease prevention measures, including practices that ensure a safe and sterile environment during construction in healthcare facilities
