St. Mary's Hospital, a proud member of the Prime Healthcare network, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible General Surgeon to join our growing surgical team in Kankakee, Illinois. The ideal candidate will provide a full range of general surgical services, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency procedures, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and support staff.

We staff a suburban acute care emergency room and are looking for a well-trained general surgeon to join us. Case mix includes bread and butter general surgery operations along with acute care surgery.

Current services provided include a broad range of elective general surgery, endoscopy, as well as urgent surgery.

In-house call not required (60 minute response time).


We seek a full time general surgeon with an interest in becoming a partner in a suburban practice. The candidate should be interested in practicing a wide range of general surgical procedures, as well as working with and teaching surgery residents and medical students

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery (ABMS or AOA).
• Current and unrestricted Illinois medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start).
• Current DEA registration.
• Excellent interpersonal, clinical, and communication skills.
• Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
