Job description

This position functions as the BETA Technologies Subject Matter Expert for Ultrasonic Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) techniques. The ideal candidate is a Level III in Ultrasonic and will have experience with inspecting composites. This candidate will aid in the development of the processes, procedures, and training of new technicians.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
  • Establish Ultrasonic inspection process and procedures in accordance with aerospace requirements
  • Establish and lead Ultrasonic NDI training program for other BETA team members to become Level I or II
  • Perform NDI on parts and assemblies as required

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and Engineering drawings
  • Level III (per NAS410) certification in Ultrasonic NDI
  • At least 5 years of experience with NDI
  • Proficient in the use of typical Ultrasonic inspection equipment, including (but not limited to) Phased-Array and Bond Test flaw detectors
  • Be capable of providing or directing training, examination, and certification of personnel
  • Conduct NDI for the acceptance of parts and document the results if a demonstration of proficiency in this ability is included in the practical examination
  • When required by the written practice, be capable of auditing outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice are met
  • Have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other requirement documents that control the NDI method(s)
  • Be capable of selecting the method and technique for a specific test
  • Be capable of preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions
  • Use of Microsoft Suite and other business reporting tools

Above and Beyond Qualifications:
  • Level III (per NAS410) certification in Ultrasonic NDI
  • Experience inspecting composites
  • At least 5 years of experience with Ultrasonic NDI in aerospace manufacturing
  • At least one year of college/university study
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems such as AS9100
  • Familiarity with Olympus flaw detection equipment and software
  • Working knowledge of CAD software including Catia or Onshape
  • Experience interfacing with ERP systems such as Plex
  • Experience working with a manufacturing team to develop new processes

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment using OSHA required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift a minimum of 10 pounds
