They are proficient in a variety of technologies, frameworks, and programming languages, allowing them to handle everything from user interfaces and user experience to server-side logic and database management. These developers collaborate with teams to deliver complete, functional solutions, ensuring seamless integration between all parts of an application. Their role requires a solid understanding of both client-side and server-side development, as well as strong problem-solving and communication skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time full stack software developer?

To thrive as a Full Time Full Stack Software Developer, you need strong proficiency in front-end and back-end programming languages (such as JavaScript, Python, Java), along with a relevant degree or equivalent practical experience. Familiarity with frameworks (like React, Angular, Node.js), databases (SQL/NoSQL), version control systems (Git), and cloud platforms is typically expected. Collaboration, problem-solving, and effective communication skills help you deliver scalable solutions and work efficiently in team settings. These competencies are essential for building robust applications, adapting to evolving technologies, and ensuring project success.

What are some common challenges full time full stack software developers face when balancing frontend and backend tasks?

Job description

About Mariana Minerals
Mariana Minerals is a software-first, vertically integrated minerals company on a mission to supply the critical minerals powering modern energy, AI, and defense technologies. We're reimagining the minerals supply chain by combining deep industry expertise with advanced software, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
Role Overview
Mariana Minerals is looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to lead critical technical initiatives in building the next-generation critical minerals supply chain to support the world's energy transition.
As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer at Mariana Minerals, you will architect, lead, and deliver software systems that accelerate the engineering and construction of physical infrastructure critical to building the minerals supply chain. You will drive technical strategy, mentor team members, and own end-to-end delivery of complex systems. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing robust integrations with existing engineering and construction software tools, architecting scalable solutions to address pain points identified by Mariana's internal teams, leading cross-functional collaboration with ML engineers to integrate LLMs for unstructured data challenges, and spearheading the development of a new "operating system" for the engineering, construction, and operation of Mariana's mineral processing facilities.
This is a truly full-stack role where you'll be expected to write production-quality frontend code while also demonstrating deep understanding of system design and backend architecture. You'll move seamlessly between user interfaces and distributed systems, ensuring excellence at every layer of the stack.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the technical design and architecture of internal software tools, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability while working closely with engineering, construction, and operations teams.
  • Architect and implement complex data integrations with enterprise engineering/construction tools such as Autodesk, establishing best practices for API design and data synchronization.
  • Drive the development of sophisticated web applications and platforms used by internal teams and partners, making key technical decisions on frameworks, infrastructure, and deployment strategies.
  • Conduct thorough technical evaluations of third-party software solutions, providing strategic recommendations on build-vs-buy decisions and integration approaches.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with ML engineers to design and implement production-ready ML, RL, and LLM-powered features, ensuring robust error handling and scalable architecture.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and establish engineering best practices across the team.
  • Participate in technical strategy discussions and contribute to long-term technology roadmap planning.
  • Own production reliability and performance optimization for critical systems.
What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering complex, production systems.
  • Deep expertise across the full stack, with demonstrated ability to make architectural decisions spanning frontend frameworks, backend services, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong experience translating business requirements from non-technical stakeholders into robust technical solutions, with ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Proven leadership experience, whether through formal management, technical lead roles, or driving cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellence in system design and architecture, with experience in distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Track record of working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and bringing structure to complex technical challenges.
  • Experience with modern web frameworks (React/Vue), backend technologies (Node.js/Python/Go), and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with data engineering, ETL pipelines, or ML/AI integration is a plus.
  • Startup experience in a rapidly scaling company is helpful but not required.
  • Domain experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, or capital projects is beneficial but not required.
