Job description

Power & Utilities Manager (Biomass / Industrial Energy)

Full-Time | Leadership Role

Location: Maine (Multi-site oversight)

Compensation: $120,000 – $150,000 base + bonus + sign-on + full relocation

The Opportunity:

We are partnering with a well-established, highly respected industrial organization to identify a Power & Utilities Manager to oversee boiler and kiln operations across two sites in Maine.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in biomass energy, steam generation, and industrial utilities, and is excited by the opportunity to lead operations, drive efficiency, and contribute to ongoing capital projects (including recent and upcoming investments in kiln and turbine systems).

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Lead the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of biomass boilers and power generation systems
  • Oversee kiln operations and plant utilities across multiple sites
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Supervise and develop plant operators and technical teams
  • Plan and execute annual shutdowns and maintenance activities
  • Monitor plant performance, costs, and KPIs to drive operational excellence
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures and best practices
  • Partner cross-functionally with Maintenance, Engineering, and Leadership teams
  • Provide coaching, direction, and accountability to a high-performing team

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in power plant, biomass, or heavy industrial operations
  • Experience with boilers, steam systems, and/or industrial energy generation
  • Leadership experience managing teams in an industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to make decisions in critical operating conditions
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical, or related)
  • Or equivalent hands-on experience in plant operations
  • Willingness (or ability) to obtain a Maine Stationary Steam Engineer License (support provided)

What’s Offered:

  • Competitive base salary + annual bonus (~$20K target)
  • $2,000 sign-on bonus
  • Full relocation package
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and sick time
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development support
  • Wellness programs and employee assistance resources

Why This Role?

  • Join a stable, growth-oriented organization with ongoing capital investment
  • Work in a technically advanced, continuously improving environment
  • Take ownership of critical energy infrastructure supporting large-scale operations
  • Clear opportunity to influence performance, reliability, and future projects

If you're currently leading (or ready to step into) a power, utilities, or boiler operations function and want to be part of a forward-thinking industrial organization, we’d welcome a confidential conversation.
