They often work with businesses, events, or individuals who need specialized or flexible security support. Freelance security professionals may have backgrounds in law enforcement, military, or private security, and they must typically be licensed and insured. Job description

Power BI Developer / Data Analyst

Full-Time or Freelance | Hybrid | Warfordsburg, PA

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer / Data Analyst to design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI reports and dashboards. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience connecting Power BI to Oracle or other on-premises databases, a strong command of DAX, and the ability to translate complex operational data into clear, actionable visualizations for both executive and operational audiences.

This role works closely with the Director of IT and business stakeholders to prioritize and deliver reporting across Sales, Operations, Finance, and Executive dashboards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop Power BI reports, dashboards, and datasets meeting business and executive requirements
  • Connect Power BI to on-premises Oracle 19c (via on-premises data gateway) and other data sources including M365 and Azure
  • Write optimized DAX measures, calculated columns, and complex time-intelligence formulas
  • Build and maintain Power BI dataflows, datasets, and scheduled refresh pipelines
  • Collaborate with the Director of IS and department heads to gather requirements and iterate on deliverables
  • Ensure report performance, data accuracy, and consistent visual standards across the BI environment
  • Document data models, measures, and report logic for maintainability
  • Support row-level security (RLS) configuration and workspace/app publishing in Power BI Service
  • Assist in data governance decisions as needed

Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
  • 3+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience (reports, datasets, dataflows, service)
  • Expert-level DAX — time intelligence, CALCULATE, iterators, measures vs. calculated columns
  • Strong Power Query / M language for data transformation
  • Experience connecting Power BI to Oracle SQL and other data sources such as data lakes
  • Solid understanding of data modeling: star schema, relationships, cardinality
  • Experience publishing and managing reports in Power BI Service (workspaces, apps, RLS)
  • Comfortable working with source control, GitHub, pbip files

Soft Skills & Working Style
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into clean, intuitive visualizations
  • Strong attention to detail — accurate data and reliable refresh schedules are non-negotiable
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently in a lean IS environment
  • Good written communication for documentation and async stakeholder updates
  • Able to give clear timelines of deliverables

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IFS ERP (any version) or similar industrial ERP systems
  • Familiarity with SQL — particularly Oracle SQL — for query optimization and data validation
  • Microsoft Fabric or Power BI Premium / Fabric capacity experience
  • Power BI embedded analytics or paginated reports (SSRS/RDL)
  • Experience supporting industrial companies
  • Microsoft PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) certification
