About this opportunity:
The College of Sciences and Humanities at Ball State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in forensic science. Preference will be given to individuals with practical experience in forensic science. The successful applicant will be housed in a department commiserate with the candidate's expertise. A Ph.D. in forensic science, biology, chemistry, or forensic psychology or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment.

What you'll do and what you will bring:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities comprise introductory and advanced courses in forensic science and/or courses in content areas that contribute to the forensic science program. Other teaching could include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the home department. Applicants are expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level and provide leadership in further forensic science program development. The selected candidate will also be expected to develop and maintain an independent and active research program, mentor student researchers, and provide service to the profession, university, and program.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • An earned Doctorate degree appropriate for a forensic science program, preferably in biology, chemistry, or a related field by time of appointment.
  • Research experience in a forensic science discipline or in methods and techniques adapted, supported, and employed by the forensic science community.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • The ability to establish effective collaborative relationships with a varied range of internal and external populations.
  • Record of successful teaching in a college/university environment.
  • Established scholarship record in forensic science, biology, chemistry, or forensic psychology.
