Job Summary:
The Curriculum Coordinator serves a critical role in supporting the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the MPH core curriculum. This position collaborates closely with course instructors and program leadership to ensure alignment and integration across core courses, consistency in learning objectives, and adherence to accreditation and SMPH policies and requirements. The Coordinator contributes to the development and delivery of high-quality educational experiences, supports effective instructional practices, and fosters a rigorous learning environment.
Additionally, the Curriculum Coordinator works closely with the program to assess curricular effectiveness, identify opportunities for enhancement, and ensure the program remains responsive to evolving public health competencies and workforce needs. Through these efforts, the Curriculum Coordinator contributes to maintaining the academic excellence and integrity of the MPH program and to advancing its educational mission.
  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
  • The work schedule is flexible and will be determined at the time of hire.
  • Terminal, 24 month appointment
  • This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.

Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration:
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and administrative teams.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates classroom and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses including assessment of student performance
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of accreditation program requirements, and program policies to ensure accreditation and compliance with policies.
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
  • Assists with the development of instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction under the direction of an academic staff or faculty member
  • Serves as resource to advise learners of program/institutional policies and procedures

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Master of Public Health (MPH) program is a 42-credit degree designed to prepare students for professional practice in public health. The program accommodates both MPH and dual degree leaders, with full-time students completing the program within two years. The curriculum consists of 30 credits of required core coursework and seminars, six elective credits, and a six-credit Applied Practice Experience
Compensation:
The starting salary for the position is $60,000 annually, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven relevant professional experience in public health, higher education, academic program coordination, or a related field, including demonstrated responsibility for facilitating learning activities, workshops, or course-related instruction.
  • Experience supporting student assessment processes, including grading, providing feedback, or assisting with evaluation of student work in an academic or training environment, with strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • Experience in curriculum development, mapping, and evaluation, including aligning learning objectives, competencies, and assessment strategies across courses and programs.
  • Interest in or experience with teaching and instructional support, including collaboration with faculty on course design, pedagogy, and educational innovation.
  • Proven ability to support all learners in higher education settings, including graduate students, working professionals, and/or non-traditional students.
  • Familiarity with academic policies, student services, and program operations in higher education environments.
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in academic program coordination, planning, and project management, preferably within a graduate or professional public health program.
  • Strong understanding of public health education frameworks and competencies (e.g., CEPH accreditation criteria or similar), with experience supporting accreditation processes, reporting, or continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience using learning management systems (e.g., Canvas,) and academic data systems to support instruction and program administration.
  • Ability to analyze program data and contribute to program evaluation, reporting, and strategic planning.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, or similar field required
  • Master's degree in Public Health or in allied field, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related discipline is preferred
