Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to promote environmental quality and public health and wellness by supporting Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful (KGPB) programs and environmental quality initiatives. This is accomplished by assisting with and participating in community cleanup events, beautification projects, recycling programs, environmental remediation activities, volunteer coordination, and public education efforts; responding to citizen inquiries; maintaining program data and records; and assisting with the administration of various programs including related administrative duties.
Essential Job Functions
This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.
  • Assists with the implementation and coordination of Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful (KGPB) programs and initiatives focused on litter prevention, beautification, recycling, and environmental stewardship. Supports volunteer events and community cleanup efforts by preparing materials, setting up and breaking down event sites, and working alongside volunteers during activities.
  • Performs field-based work in support of environmental quality initiatives, including participating in cleanup operations, addressing illegal dumping concerns, transporting materials and supplies, and assisting with beautification projects throughout the City.
  • Provides support for public education and outreach efforts by distributing materials, assisting with presentations, and engaging with residents, schools, and community groups to promote environmental awareness and program participation.
  • Maintains program records, tracks volunteer participation and event data, and assists in compiling reports and identifying opportunities to improve program effectiveness and engagement.
  • Coordinates and maintains tools, equipment, and supplies used for program activities, ensuring proper use, basic maintenance, and inventory control.
  • Responds to citizen inquiries related to litter, recycling, and environmental concerns and assists with service requests and issue resolution.
  • May provide direction to volunteers, temporary staff, or community service workers during events and field activities.
  • Completes administrative duties by maintaining records; writing various reports; completing forms and paperwork; writing standard operating procedures; entering data into computer; writing letters and memos; writing program descriptions; designing and coordinating training programs for City employees.
  • Assists with the marketing and administration of various programs by developing brochures and teaching materials; making various presentations; developing and writing plans and ordinances; representing the department in various meetings and special events; and assisting with City operations with environmental compliance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Preferred degree in Natural Science with knowledge of environmental regulations.
  • Experience: Two (2) years or more of related experience
  • Licenses: Valid Class C Driver's License required
