Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Technical Standards and Training Instructor will be required to liaise with Top Aces staff as needed to develop, manage and continuously improve the Top Aces’ Maintenance Training System(s). This role will be accountable to all departments (Flight Safety, EH&S, Compliance) but will report to the Base Lead.

The Technical Standards and Training Instructor will be relied upon to be a leader in continually demonstrating the correct methods and procedures of maintenance practices during local and deployed operations, and ensuring that company maintenance standards, and procedures are maintained and promoted. 

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for the initial training and integration of new employees (IT, HR, etc.) and ensures liaison for reception, safety instructions and qualification of training on each operational platform.
  • Develop and monitor the training program for new employees, ensuring that the initial aircraft qualification path for a newly hired technician is on track and report any challenges.
  • Contribute as a resource person and mentor for newly hired technicians for policies, procedures and the training of technical personnel in the use of company software and systems.
  • Responsible for training on the use of ground support equipment
  • Promote and facilitate the culture of professionalism in maintenance, safety and continuous improvement to all Technicians; Aid in carrying out training tasks or briefings on behalf of the Safety and Compliance Group or in accordance with the company Maintenance Training Standards Manual (TRG-M07).
  • Provide onsite recurrent training for Technical Qualifications.
  • Assist in organizing externally provided training on or off site;(ground school)
  • Promote compliance with the company's Environmental Health and Safety program:
    • Working in compliance with EH&S acts and regulations
    • Following safe work practices and procedures and using safeguards and personal protective equipment
    • Report workplace hazards and dangers
  • Promote company safety objectives and ensure that all base activities adhere to the Company MCM and MPM, Transport Canada regulations, DND regulations, Top Aces Flight Safety program, Top Aces Environmental Health and Safety program, Foreign Object Elimination, CGP and security regulations.
  • Support Top Aces safety programs and Quality Management System.
  • Other related duties may be assigned by DOM/PRM, PM CATS or YBG Base Lead.

Secondary Duty:

  • The employee may be assigned to technician responsibilities at the discretion of the Base Lead when operational needs require it.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

  • Full-time permanent employee with 8 years’ minimum experience with Top Aces
  • Flight line and heavy maintenance experience on Top Aces operational platform, an asset
  • Transport Canada AME licence, an asset
  • Company issued ACA on at least one Aircraft, an asset
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office suite (Word/Excel/Power Point)
  • Above average knowledge of:
    • Aircraft Maintenance Software (RAMCO)
    • MCM MPM and related documents
    • SharePoint (Maintenance Manuals / Technical Library)
    • Absorb
  • Humble and approachable with strong communication skills
  • Previous training background, an asset
  • Team player with demonstrated interest and capability to help others improve
  • Demonstrates strong and visible support of our values

 

Working Conditions  

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including overtime and shift work according to flight operations
  • Will be required to work outdoors
  • Regular travel is required for the position
  • International travel may also be required in this role (Valid Passport required)

Supervisory, Training and Advisory Responsibilities:

This position will provide regular guidance, training and oversight to positions supporting maintenance operations.

 

 

Environmental Health and Safety Responsibilities:

You will have the following responsibilities in order to comply with the company's Environmental Health and Safety program:

  • Working in compliance with Environmental Health and Safety acts and regulations
  • Following safe work practices and procedures and using safeguards and personal protective equipment
  • Reporting hazards (such as unsafe situations and activities) to their supervisor immediately

Position requires Controlled Goods Clearance and Level 2 Secret Clearance
