Summary

The Public Safety Educator is responsible for facilitating the development of Public Safety operational excellence for all positions within the department through active participation in campus and/or unit-based orientation, training, and on-going staff development.

Requirements

Education:High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Experience:Three years of experience working as an educator within a public safety organization (law enforcement, hospital or corporate security, fire, EMS) required.

Certification:N/A

License:Valid Florida drivers license within 30 days of employment. Class D Security License from FL Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services or proof of application (state issued acknowledgement card) within first 30 days of employment. Proof of State issued license to be provided within 90 days. Required. Class DI Security Instructor License from the FL Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services or proof of application (state issued acknowledgement card) within first 30 days of employment. Proof of State issued license to be provided within 90 days. Required. Class G Armed Security License from the FL Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services or proof of application (state issued acknowledgement card) within first 30 days of employment. Proof of State issued license to be provided within 90 days. Required. Once obtained, all license/certification must be always maintained and current. Class K Firearms Instructor License from the FL Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services eligible.

Other:Demonstrates intermediate computer skills using all Public Safety software programs writing concise detailed reports with proper spelling and grammar. Ability to use basic electronics such as a digital camera, closed circuit television equipment, Digital Video Recorders / DVDs, and multiple line telephones. Can demonstrate proficiency in and assists with the training of new officers in operations of CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, Infant Protection, Public Safety Reporting/Dispatching program systems and any/all additional systems applicable to assigned location.
