Controller - Executive Leadership Track (Future Associate CFO Opportunity)
Are you a high-performing healthcare finance leader who has already mastered the Controller role and is ready for the next step in your career?
Our organization is seeking an experienced Controller to join a highly successful finance team with a unique opportunity: the right candidate will be positioned for promotion to Associate CFO.
This is not a traditional Controller position. We are looking for a proven leader who can immediately contribute at a strategic level while helping shape the future of our financial operations and organizational growth.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Clearly defined path to Associate CFO for the right candidate
  • High-performing accounting and finance team already in place
  • Strong organizational culture focused on collaboration and excellence
  • Stable healthcare organization with a commitment to growth and innovation
  • Opportunity to work directly with executive leadership on strategic initiatives
  • Last financial statement audit completed with no audit adjustments, reflecting the strength of our accounting processes and team

The Role
Reporting directly to the Associate CFO, the Controller serves as a key financial leader responsible for General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cash Management, and Capital Asset Management. The position plays a critical role in financial reporting, strategic planning, operational improvement, staff development, and organizational decision-making.
This role extends well beyond technical accounting. We are seeking a leader who can develop people, drive projects, improve processes, build relationships across the organization, and communicate effectively with executives, physicians, board members, auditors, bankers, and other external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will bring:
  • Significant hospital finance and accounting leadership experience
  • Proven success leading high-performing teams
  • Strong project management and organizational leadership skills
  • Deep understanding of healthcare accounting, financial reporting, reimbursement, budgeting, and audit processes
  • Experience presenting financial information to executive leadership and governing boards
  • Ability to identify opportunities, solve problems, and drive results
  • Desire and capability to grow into a senior executive finance leadership role

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA
  • MBA, MHA, or other advanced degree
  • Experience serving as a Controller, Assistant CFO, Associate CFO, or equivalent senior financial leadership role within a healthcare organization

Join Us
If you are looking for more than a Controller position-if you are seeking a genuine opportunity to grow into executive healthcare finance leadership while working alongside a talented team-we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Public or Health Service Administration or Finance.
  • Seven to Ten years' experience in a hospital, including at least five years supervision above the first supervisory level.
  • Ability to develop financial management strategies that meet hospital and corporate objectives.
  • Knowledge of hospital generally accepted accounting principles, consolidated accounting concepts, implementation of accounting and reporting systems, critical analysis of data and measurement of financial performance.

  • Ability to effectively present information to executive management and board of directors.
  • Experience in organizing and leading teams.
