Full Time Film Technology information

What is the difference between Full Time Film Technology vs Film Production Assistant?

AspectFull Time Film TechnologyFilm Production Assistant
CredentialsRelevant technical certifications, film technology trainingBasic industry knowledge, sometimes entry-level certifications
Work EnvironmentStudio, on-set, technical departmentsOn-set, location, production offices
Employer & Industry UsageFilm studios, technical companies, production housesProduction companies, film sets, independent projects

Full Time Film Technology roles focus on technical support, equipment management, and post-production processes, requiring specialized certifications. Film Production Assistants handle logistical tasks, support crew, and assist on set, often with less technical training. Both roles are essential in film production but differ in responsibilities and required skills.

What is a full-time film technology job?

A full-time film technology job involves working in the technical aspects of film production, such as camera operation, sound engineering, editing, visual effects, and other behind-the-scenes roles. These professionals use specialized equipment and software to capture, edit, and produce high-quality films, television shows, or digital media. Full-time positions typically require a strong understanding of current technology, attention to detail, and collaboration with directors, producers, and other crew members. This field offers opportunities to work on a variety of projects in studios, on location, or in post-production environments.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals in full-time film technology roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in full-time film technology roles often encounter challenges such as tight production deadlines, rapidly evolving software and hardware, and the need for seamless collaboration between creative and technical teams. Staying updated with the latest technological advancements and industry standards is essential to remain competitive. Building strong communication skills and being proactive about learning new tools can help address these challenges and contribute to successful project outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Film Technologist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Film Technologist, you need expertise in film production processes, camera operation, lighting, and editing, often supported by a degree in film, media, or a related field. Familiarity with industry-standard tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and camera systems such as RED or ARRI is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong teamwork skills set outstanding professionals apart in this field. These competencies are vital for producing high-quality visual content and collaborating effectively in fast-paced production environments.

Job description

Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you've come to the right place!

E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.

We're intentional, we're unapologetically curious and we're 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Chemical Bath Deposition (CBD) Process Engineer to develop, operate, and optimize wet-chemical thin-film deposition processes within a roll-to-roll (R2R) manufacturing environment.
This hands-on role requires strong expertise in chemistry, solution preparation, process control, wet deposition kinetics, and high-volume manufacturing techniques. The ideal candidate has experience with thin-film coating processes, chemical reaction control, and continuous-flow or R2R wet-processing equipment.
What you'll be doing:
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain chemical bath deposition processes for thin-film layer formation on flexible substrates.
  • Operate and own R2R chemical coating equipment, including solution delivery, heating, mixing, agitation, web movement, and drying systems.
  • Prepare chemical solutions, adjust concentrations, control reaction kinetics, and maintain precise bath chemistry to ensure consistent film growth.
  • Monitor real-time process variables (temperature, pH, flow, concentration, deposition rate, web tension, alignment) and define control limits.
  • Perform routine inspections, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on CBD and R2R equipment.
  • Troubleshoot process deviations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to scale processes from lab/pilot to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, batch logs, deposition parameters, and production results according to SOPs.
  • Ensure full compliance with chemical handling, safety, and environmental protocols.
What you will bring to this role:
  • Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Engineering Technology, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in chemical deposition processes for thin films (CBD, wet coating, electrochemical, plating, sol-gel, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of wet-chemical reaction control, solution stability, stoichiometry, and bath kinetics.
  • Experience operating or developing roll-to-roll (R2R) or web-based chemical processing equipment.
  • Familiarity with process control, analytical measurements (pH, concentration, thickness), and statistical process methods.
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals, pressurized systems, heated baths, and cleanroom protocols.
Extra points for the following:
  • Experience scaling chemical processes from lab to pilot to production.
  • Knowledge of industrial chemical delivery systems, metering pumps, filtration, or recirculation systems.
  • Background in continuous wet-coating or immersion-based deposition systems.
  • Experience in high-volume thin-film or flexible-electronics manufacturing environments.
This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Arlington, TX office.

We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used-so we're looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that's your experience - then we'll be immediately wow-ed.

E-Space is not currently able to provide employment sponsorship for candidates who do not hold work authorization for the location of this role.

Why E-Space is right for you:

As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving our success.  Our team members have a strong sense of dedication and responsibility; this includes a strong commitment to our mission to create an entirely new suite of global capabilities to improve lives, business efficiencies and build a smarter planet.
