The Dobbs Ferry School District has an immediate vacancy for a Director of Facilities II. This is a competitive-class title within the Westchester County Department of Human Resources Civil Service (Job Class Code S992). The Director of Facilities II is a full-time, probationary/permanent 12-month position. Eligible job candidates must be active on an eligibility list established by the Westchester County Department of Human Resources Civil Service in the job title or must meet the minimum qualification for provisional appointment.
The Director of Facilities II is not included within a collective negotiation unit but is entitled to the benefits set forth in the Dobbs Ferry Administrators Association (DFAA). Salary Range: $135,000 - $155,000 commensurate with experience.
Job Summary:
The Director of Facilities II is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the custodial and maintenance activities of the school district's facilities department. The work is performed according to established policies and procedures and in accordance with applicable state, local and federal laws, rules, and regulations that apply to school district facility operations and maintenance. The successful candidate will, on occasion, be required to perform maintenance and repair-related tasks and activities, which may be performed indoors or outdoors under adverse working conditions, although certain activities are performed in the office setting.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of buildings and grounds;
  • Understanding of school district, workplace, and environmental laws, and understanding of emerging technologies;
  • Experience with the supervision, evaluation, and training of custodial, maintenance, and office support staff;
  • Knowledge of NYSED regulations for capital projects;
  • Engineering background and experience in a building construction trade preferred but not required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York.
  • In accordance with the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) legislation, Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check.
