St. Joseph's Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers
Location: Inpatient Facility - Saranac Lake, NY
Position: Full-time Counselor
Shift/schedule: Monday-Friday / 8:00a-4:30p
Pay Range Levels:
  • Counselor without a credential: $45,000.00/year
  • CASAC-T / CASAC-P: $47,008/year to $49,004/year
  • CASAC to CASAC Masters: $58,500/year to $72,000/year
  • MHC / MSW: $67,000/year to $68,000/year
  • LMSW / LMHC: $75,000/year to $100,000/year

Position Summary: Functions as a family counselor responsible for conducting a wide range of individual and group counseling services within a multi-disciplinary treatment team throughout the agency.
Education and Training: A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a CASAC with three (3) years multi-disciplinary experience in the field of chemical dependency/family counseling. Master's and QHP preferred. CPR certification required.
Experience and Work Knowledge: Knowledge of modern principles and practices of alcohol and chemical dependency treatment with specialized focus on family structures/dynamics and best practices therapy.
Physical Demands: No extraordinary physical demands required.

Essential Duties:
  • Conducts initial family assessment/interview.
  • Maintains communications with family members on releases regarding family sessions.
  • Conducts a variety of therapeutic and psychoeducational family groups, meetings, and sessions related to family sessions with residents and/or their loved ones.
  • Facilitates individual/conjoint sessions with family members/loved ones, residents, and primary counselors.
  • Conducts psycho-educational, didactic lectures and/or groups to residents covering topics related to family and family dynamics.
  • Assumes responsibilities of primary counselor for limited number of residents as
    needed.
  • Assumes responsibilities of group counselor when needed to cover absences, vacations,gaps in staffing as needed.
  • Actively participates in team meetings (family and clinical), case studies, staffing, task forces, committees, and quality assurance activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for maintaining and pursuing continuing education and development.
  • Maintains or pursues current NYS license(s) and/or credentials as appropriate.
