Description
  • Administers pre-hospital care, Advanced, and/or Basic Life Support based on licensure for patients under the direction of licensed physician, in accordance with established hospital policies/procedures and within the Illinois Department of Public Health regulations.
  • Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.
  • Other roles and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • High school graduate or equivalency.
  • Illinois Emergency Medical Technician and CPR.
  • Illinois drivers license with no suspensions/revocations within the past three years, or any convictions for reckless driving, speeding (in excess of 15mph over the limit), or driving under the influence within the past five years.
  • EKG course required.
  • Related experience preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of specialized equipment for all procedures approved by IDPH and/or EMS.
  • Ability to function in a calm, efficient manner during emergency/crisis situations.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Motor coordination and finger dexterity required to operate ambulance and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Maintains professional appearance in accordance with the department dress code policy.

Physical Requirements:
  • Work is of medium to heavy demand.
  • Routine lifting requirements of 100 pounds or more.
  • Standing and walking are required throughout the shift.
  • Sitting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling are required.
  • Works inside and outside with exposure to extreme weather conditions.
