Working in close collaboration with the Encore Directors, this educator will lead the STEAM track with a particular focus on coding, engineering, maker space projects, and robotics. • Lead direct instruction in coding, engineering, robotics, and maker space activities, ensuring age-appropriate, engaging, and rigorous learning experiences.

  • Integrate project-based and hands-on learning opportunities that encourage problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration.

  • Incorporate culturally responsive practices to make STEAM accessible and relevant to all students, including multilingual learners and students with disabilities.

Student Engagement & Enrichment
  • Create a learning environment where creativity, experimentation, and critical thinking are celebrated.

  • Guide students in completing individual and collaborative projects, culminating in showcases, exhibitions, or competitions.

  • Provide targeted support for students at varying skill levels to ensure equitable participation and growth.

  • Introduce students to STEAM careers and connect classroom activities to real-world applications.

Collaboration & School Engagement
  • Work with Encore Directors to ensure program alignment with Codman’s mission, strategic goals, and K–12 learning outcomes.

  • Maintain strong communication with families to encourage participation and share student achievements.

  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Encore program.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Experience designing and delivering hands-on STEM/STEAM programming for K–12 students.

  • Proficiency in coding platforms, robotics kits, maker space tools, and engineering concepts.

  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.

Preferred:

  • Background in project-based learning, robotics competitions, or makerspace management.

  • Familiarity with EL Education or expeditionary learning models.

  • Ability to integrate arts and design thinking into STEM content.
