Blank Children’s Hospital

 Blank Children's Hospital, a service of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, is completely dedicated to meeting the unique health care needs of children. Blank Children's is a 108-bed environment that embraces and encourages families to be a part of their child's healing and recovery. Everything from equipment to decor is designed specifically for children.

  • Established team of 1 physician and 4 Advanced Practitioners
  • Opportunity to practice outpatient medicine in an established and well-known clinic with some rounding and consults in the hospital
  • Full-time position, including dedicated administrative time, with flexible scheduling to ensure sufficient patient access
  • Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on EPIC EMR to improve care coordination
  • Clinical track faculty appointment with the University of Iowa
  • Fully accredited CF center
  • Multidisciplinary CF clinic 
  • Fully equipped flexible bronchoscopy and laryngoscopy, exercise testing, and pulmonary function lab 

  • Average of 15 patients per day
  • Teaching and research opportunities - our residency program is fully accredited by the ACGME and offers seven categorical positions each year
  • Shared call amongst the providers.  Currently 1:4
  • Practice is a mix of inpatient and outpatient
  • Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities we serve
  • In-office consults
  • Patient-focused, friendly and willing to collaborate in a team environment
  • Opportunity for expansion in our asthma center

  • MD or DO
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatric Pulmonology
    • Prefer Board Certified in Sleep Medicine   
  • Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa
  • Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physician’s field of practice
  • Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt)
  • J-1 waiver sponsorship available
