Job description

Job Title: Heavy Equipment Technician
Location: Palmyra, NY
Company: WoodStone Heavy Truck/Equipment Repair
Pay Rate: Hourly rate of $28-$50 based on experience
We are looking for motivated, career-minded Technicians with Heavy Equipment repair experience that are looking for opportunities for career growth!
We provide maintenance and repair services, to include on-site repairs, to a wide range of customers. We are seeking qualified applicants to fill Technician positions repairing both on and off-highway trucks and equipment.
Duties may include
  • Performing general maintenance and repair of Agricultural, industrial and construction equipment (bulldozers, skid steers, bucket loaders, excavators, plate tampers, man-lifts, telehandlers, forklifts, etc.) and Class 1-8 trucks, tractors, and trailers of all types
  • Performing electrical, engine and powertrain systems (including aftertreatment systems) diagnostics on both gasoline and diesel engines and manual and automatic transmissions
  • Performing component-level repair/replacement (engines, transmissions, axles, final drives, hydraulic pumps/valves/cylinders, liftgates, tarp systems, etc.).
  • Performing lighting system, brake system, steering and suspension system diagnosis and repair
  • Performing welding and fabrication tasks as required to repair or refurbish equipment and attachments
  • Performing FHWA/DOT annual and New York State Inspections as required
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Communicating with service and parts personnel (and occasionally customers directly) to ensure accurate, timely and quality service and repairs with the shared goal of exceeding the customer's expectations

What The Ideal Candidate Looks Like
  • Valid driver's license required, ability and willingness to get a CDL or currently hold a CDL is encouraged
  • Prior experience and training in the automotive, heavy truck, agriculture or construction repair industries required- initial pay rate will be based on experience/training
  • Graduate of a formal OEM technician training program or Technical School/Community college program in one of the aforementioned industries is favorable, but not required
  • Current NYS Inspector's License for Group 2, or willingness to get certified within the first 90 days of employment
  • Prior experience/training with hydraulic systems, engine/transmission rebuild and/or electronic engine/transmission controls (to include diesel aftertreatment systems) is favorable
  • ASE Certifications, OEM training/certification, and prior Technician competition participation (i.e., TANY, TMC SuperTech, etc.) is favorable
  • Must have own tools (shop provides tools over ¾" drive)
  • Has a willingness to learn and grow, be a team player, displays a strong work ethic, and genuinely cares about the customer's experience, the company and fellow employees
  • Displays a positive attitude, honesty, integrity and is willing to tackle difficult jobs or work they have not previously performed with the support of teammates as required
