Job description

Job Summary (Aviation Project Specialist 1 - TDOT Aeronautics Division)
- Entry-level, full-time position supporting aviation infrastructure projects at public-use airports across Tennessee.
- Assist in planning, development, and management of capital improvement projects, including annual updates to Capital Improvement Plans (CIPs) for assigned airports.
- Coordinate and communicate with stakeholders to identify and address airport infrastructure needs (maintenance, repairs, safety, environmental, operational).
- Review and help develop aviation infrastructure plans utilizing CADD and PDF tools.
- Ensure project compliance with FAA and TDOT guidelines, technical requirements, and federal contracting regulations (DBE, labor standards, Buy America/BABA).
- Track project schedules, review invoices for grant compliance, and manage documentation using multiple software platforms.
- Provide proactive problem-solving within a matrix team environment to address engineering and project management challenges.
- Participate in occasional site visits and overnight travel as needed.
