Job description

System Administrator (Grandview Location)
The System Administrator is responsible for managing and securing the Microsoft 365 cloud environment, including Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online for Church of the Highlands ("Highlands"). This role also oversees endpoint management and updates using Microsoft Intune for Windows devices and Jamf for Apple devices. The position requires proactive monitoring of security alerts, collaboration with vendors, and implementation of best practices to maintain a secure and efficient IT ecosystem. This role ensures the reliability, security, and effectiveness of technology systems that support academic instruction, faculty, staff, and administrative operations across the college.
Experience and Knowledge Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience administering Microsoft 365 environments (Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and Jamf for endpoint management.
  • Understanding security tools: Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Endpoints, Jamf Protect, and MDR solutions like Arctic Wolf.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 services:
    • Entra ID (Azure AD) for identity and access management.
    • Exchange Online for email services.
    • OneDrive and SharePoint Online for collaboration and document management.
  • Configure and enforce security policies, conditional access, and compliance policies.
  • Manage user accounts, licenses, and permissions across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Windows devices using Microsoft Intune.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Apple devices through Jamf.
  • Ensure timely operating system and application patching across all managed devices.
  • Maintain endpoint security and compliance standards.

  • Maintain documentation of security events and resolutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors during incident response.
