Job Description

Geotechnical drilling consists of drilling into the soil at a site to obtain samples of the soils and measure the density of the soils. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong skill set to advance quickly in their career in a growing well established small company. The employee's duties will consist of performing geotechnical test borings, supervision of a drill rig crew, other drilling operations, and equipment maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Operate drilling equipment such as mud rotary wash (SPT) and auger drill rigs.
  • Train and direct drillers helper(s).
  • Driving drill rig(s) and/or support vehicle(s) in a safe and professional manner (CDL NOT required but a plus).
  • Understand utility locate markings and field and locating of geotechnical boring locations.
  • Assist with clearing operations for geotechnical investigations.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of drilling equipment, drill rig(s), and support vehicle(s) which will require basic mechanical knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines.
  • Keep accurate and detailed field records.
  • Classify soils in field and prepare field boring logs.

Typical Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday - 7:30ย a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years geotechnical drilling experience required.
  • Clean Driving Record (Required).
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all climates.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds multiple times per day.
  • Willingness to arrive at work early and on-time, and work late when necessary.
  • Have reliable transportation to/from work.
