In a sector undergoing a major transformation, claims specialists play a key role: they proactively and responsibly manage claims while also contributing to people's well-being and financial security.As a Disability case manager, you help process life and health insurance claims, promote occupational health, and manage disabilities. Your creativity, curiosity, adaptability, and collaboration will have a positive impact on people's lives, and you will contribute to the financial security of our members and clients. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Develop strategies and build strong relationships to establish an intervention plan to facilitate the insured's recovery and return to work in a timely and sustainable manner

  • Communicate by phone and mail with various parties to develop a comprehensive understanding of the elements and context related to the absence and communicate decisions to the insured and the policyholder

  • Approve and adjudicate claims, process waivers of premium, establish the amount of the benefit, determine the period payable and proceed with the payment and ensure the necessary follow-ups are completed

  • Prepare documents needed by the organization's rehabilitation coordinator for claimant interviews. Review claims with medical consultants and the legal department as required

  • Process disability claims in accordance with the terms of the group insurance contract

What you bring to the table

  • College diploma in a related field

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience as a disability claims specialist (short- and/or long-term disability management)
