Job Objective:

Manages the delivery of quality, cost effective Biomedical services by supervising the inspection, maintenance, repair, and calibration of equipment used in medical therapy and diagnosis. Assists in the development of policies, procedures, budgets, and departmental planning. Provides technical supervision and administrative support to the Biomed team. Verifies that appropriate policies and procedures are followed to provide patient safety and to satisfy regulatory agency requirements including JCAHO, DHS, FDA, CAP, AABB, HIPPA, etc. Works closely with in-house and outside service and materials vendors to keep contracts, materials, and service at the highest quality and most reasonable cost possible.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
Licensure/Certification:
Preferred: CBET or ICET
Experience:
Required: Five (5) years of progressive biomedical technology leadership experience

Reports To: Administrative Director-Facilities Management
Supervises: Biomed Instrument Specialists and Technicians
Ages of Patients: N/A
Blood Borne Pathogens: High Potential

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Ability to create and maintain positive interpersonal relations with peers, staff, leaders and vendors, Ability to delegate tasks effectively, optimize team productivity and ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives, Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner, Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance, Ability to read and understand schematics and specifications - including legal contract detail, Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications, Excellent leadership skills, Understanding of Biomedical systems and equipment and ability to troubleshoot the same

Essential Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. Provides administrative support to the department and staff.
3. Administers departmental policies in a fair and uniform manner.
4. Completes biweekly rounds and reports to supervising administrator.
5. Works closely with departments and vendors to track equipment service history and usage.
6. Aggressively negotiates contracts and service to get the most cost effective, highest quality offering.
7. Provides training and assistance to all departments to ensure proper equipment utilization.
8. Attends required meetings and contributes ideas and solutions in a positive manner.
9. Completes staff evaluations in a timely manner.
10. Generates and distributes required reports in a timely manner.
11. Oversees the software maintenance system and works to obtain optimal system performance.
12. Works with staff to achieve 95% minimum completion rate on JCAHO required PMs.
13. Works to ensure the equipment management program is in compliance with JCAHO directives.
14. Openly communicates with all departments to ensure that high quality service is being delivered.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
