Full Time Devops information

What is a full time DevOps?

Full Time DevOps professionals are IT specialists who work to bridge the gap between software development and IT operations, ensuring smooth, automated, and efficient processes throughout the software lifecycle. They are responsible for automating deployments, managing infrastructure, monitoring systems, and promoting a culture of collaboration between development and operations teams. Working full time means DevOps engineers are dedicated employees, rather than contractors or part-timers, and are deeply involved in the ongoing improvement and reliability of a company’s technology systems.

How does a full time DevOps engineer typically collaborate with development and operations teams?

As a Full Time DevOps engineer, you’ll work closely with both development and IT operations teams to streamline software delivery and improve system reliability. This often involves participating in daily stand-ups, coordinating deployment pipelines, and troubleshooting production issues alongside developers and sysadmins. Effective communication and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential, as you’ll bridge the gap between coding and infrastructure. Your collaboration ensures faster releases, better quality control, and smoother incident response.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time DevOps engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time DevOps Engineer, you need a strong background in software development, system administration, and automation, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Proficiency with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, along with relevant certifications, is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and effective communication are key soft skills that set successful DevOps professionals apart. These skills and qualities are crucial for streamlining development processes, ensuring system reliability, and enabling rapid, secure software delivery.

What is the difference between Full Time Devops vs Full Time System Administrator?

Job description

DevOps Engineer

The Opportunity:
Today's dynamic technology landscape demands constant and rapid innovation. To facilitate this transformation, we must ensure continuous integration and application development. That's why we need an experienced DevOps engineer like you who's eager to design, test, and program critical applications for our clients who need them most.

As a software factory DevOps Engineer on our team, you'll pipeline our software development from requirements to testing in production. You'll incorporate automation and cloud resources to minimize repetitive tasks and free up the team's developers to do what they do best-innovate. You'll work together with fellow professionals to implement CI/CD to limit manual testing and troubleshooting.

This is an opportunity to broaden your experience in software engineering while helping to develop software that will completely transform workflows and make a real impact. Here, we invest in technology, and we'll invest in you. With access to continuing education resources, tuition assistance opportunities, and technology development programs, you'll keep your skills sharp as you work at the leading edge of technology.

Work with us as we build and test tools to transform the future.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in the development of tools and processes to drive DevOps or DevSecOps maturity by automating builds, regression testing, monitoring, and pushing releases across environments

  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting, triaging, and resolving issues for CI/CD pipeline failures or slowness

  • Experience building enterprise cloud-native solutions in Azure, AWS, GCP, or OCI

  • Experience with automation, writing Terraform IaC, and Shell scripting

  • Experience working with Agile application development teams across the software development lifecycle and creating solutions to complex problems within a collaborative team environment

  • Experience with DevOps platforms, application level, pipeline build and development, and automation to support build and testing

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree, or 8+ years of experience in DevOps in lieu of a degree

  • DoD 8140 Certification such as Security+ Certification

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience developing enterprise cloud-native solutions involving Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, and GitLab CI/CD

  • Knowledge of creating and improving continuous automation across multiple cloud service providers

  • Knowledge of creating and improving continuous automation across multiple technical stacks

  • Knowledge of triaging and resolving issues related to both open-source and commercial tools in government cloud environments

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Linux Shell Script, PowerShell, and Python

  • Secret clearance

  • Master's degree

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
