Job description

Description
As an NDT Inspector at Impulse Space, you will be the final line of defense for the structural integrity of our spacecraft and propulsion systems. You will be responsible for validating mission-critical hardware, from high-pressure fluid systems and complex welded assemblies to advanced aerospace alloys. We are looking for someone with a sharp eye for detail who thrives on the floor, working directly with hardware, and collaborating closely with engineering teams to drive manufacturing quality.

Responsibilities
  • Perform surface and volumetric non-destructive testing on flight-critical hardware, with a heavy emphasis on inspecting complex weldments (tube welds, pressure vessels, structural joints)
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment to rigorous internal and external specifications
  • Interpret, evaluate, and clearly document inspection results, raising immediate flags on non-conformances to the Materials and Manufacturing engineering teams
  • Assist in the development, validation, and continuous improvement of NDT techniques and inspection plans for new engine components and spacecraft structures
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing routing instructions
  • Maintain accurate traceability and compliance documentation for all inspections

Minimum Qualifications
  • Active or recently held NAS-410 Level II certification in at least one of the following methods: Penetrant Testing (PT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), or Eddy Current Testing (ET)
  • Extensive hands-on experience inspecting welds in a high-reliability manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Multiple Level II certifications across surface and volumetric methods (e.g., PT + RT, or UT + ET) are highly desired
  • Experience operating within the aerospace, aviation, or space launch industries, specifically evaluating rocket propulsion systems or pressurized spacecraft vessels
  • Familiarity with inspecting advanced aerospace materials, including nickel-based superalloys, titanium alloys, and high-strength aluminums
  • Experience with advanced NDT methods, such as Digital Radiography (DR/CR) or Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)
  • Strong understanding of fusion welding processes (GTAW, laser, electron beam) and their characteristic defect modalities
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to engineers and technicians alike

Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
