Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)

Company: Hansen and Associates, Inc.

Location: Brigham City, Utah

Compensation: $85,000 – $115,000 / year (Depending on experience) + Performance Bonuses

Hansen and Associates is looking for a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensed in the state of Utah to join our growing team. In this role, you will manage the Survey Department, lead boundary analyses, write legal descriptions, and sign/stamp official plats. You will act as the technical anchor for our field crews and the direct point of contact for our clients and for our civil engineering partners.

  • Instruments: Leica & Trimble Robotic Total Stations
  • GPS/GNSS: High-precision RTK GNSS receivers
  • Software: AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Next-Gen Tech: Drone/UAV photogrammetry

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform boundary analysis, ALTA/NSPS title surveys, topographic maps, and subdivision plats.
  • Conduct deep historical deed research at county offices and via digital databases.
  • Process, reduce, and verify raw field data collected by crew members.
  • Prepare and write precise, legally airtight metes-and-bounds descriptions.
  • Provide QA/QC and final legal stamp/signature on all official survey deliverables.
  • Mentor and guide junior field technicians and Surveyors-in-Training (LSIT).

❗ Position Requirements

  • Licensure: Must hold an active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the state of Utah.
  • Experience: 6+ years of progressive land surveying experience as a PLS (prior experience as a Crew Chief or Project Surveyor is highly preferred).
  • Software Mastery: Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D or related survey data processing software.
  • Physical Ability: Willingness to work outdoors on occasion with survey crews in varying terrain and weather conditions when field verification is required.
  • Driving Record: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.
