Job description

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Fulfill the duties as a faculty member in accordance with the faculty contract.
  2. Fulfill teaching assignments, including teaching the appropriate load each semester.
  3. Support the mission statement of the University.
  4. Abide by the listed dates and deadlines in the Academic calendar.
  5. Attend monthly faculty council meetings as well as each faculty workshop.
  6. Contribute to and participate in the annual report and program description of the discipline. Cooperate in improving the program and the quality of the curriculum on an annual basis based on the annual report or program description.
  7. Attend meetings called by department chair or dean.
  8. Attend commencement services according to University policy.
  9. Develop appropriate course syllabi for classes.
  10. Model for students a high regard for scholarship. Be an example of a servant leader.
  11. Use a variety of methods of instruction in the classroom.
  12. Integrate faith and learning in the classroom and in preparation of the course.
  13. Meet in the classroom at appropriate times. If an online class, communicate regularly online, maintaining the University policy of responding to a student's inquiry within 48 hours.
  14. Communicate with dean, office staff, and/or department chair if out of the office or absent from class.
  15. Maintain consistent office hours, including the posting of 10 hours per week.
  16. Serve responsibly on appointed committees.
  17. Provide careful and responsible academic advising for students.
  18. Mentor students each semester by contacting, encouraging, and coaching them along the way.
  19. Participate in the summer advising times for freshmen and transfers.
  20. Reflect Christian conduct in relation to colleagues, administration, Board of Trustees, students, parents, and the public in general.
  21. Accept and follow all policies, rules, and regulations of Dallas Baptist University as approved and amended by the Board of Trustees and/or the President of the University. Carry out other duties as deemed necessary by the administration.
  22. Abide by the Faculty Personnel Policies and the Articles of Faith.

WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time faculty position.
WORK LOCATION:
This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
MISSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be a Christian who holds Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior, and who holds that the Old Testament and the New Testament solely are sacred Scriptures.
  • Must be an active member of a local Baptist Church that holds to beliefs consistent with the statement above.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have an earned doctorate, or appropriate terminal degree in the discipline, or a Master's degree with 18 hours in the discipline.
  • Must have appropriate, active licensure.
