Job Overview

As a Datacenter Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our datacenter facilities. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing various systems, including HVAC, electrical, and mechanical components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC maintenance, service, and installation, as well as experience with commissioning and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).


Key Responsibilities
  • HVAC experience:
    • Perform regular maintenance on HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, and computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units
    • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks such as filter changes, belt replacements, and lubrication of moving parts
    • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment as needed
    • Install new HVAC components and systems as part of datacenter expansions or upgrades
    • Conduct duct cleaning and maintain proper air quality within the datacenter
  • Commissioning:
    • Participate in the commissioning process for new datacenter equipment and systems
    • Conduct thorough testing and verification of newly installed components
    • Collaborate with project managers and vendors to ensure smooth integration of new equipment
    • Document commissioning procedures and results
  • PLC Operations:
    • Monitor and maintain Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems
    • Program and update PLC logic as needed to optimize datacenter operations
    • Troubleshoot PLC-related issues and implement solutions
    • Collaborate with the IT team to ensure proper integration of PLC systems with other datacenter management tools
  • General Datacenter Maintenance and technical support:
    • Perform regular inspections of datacenter facilities to identify potential issues
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the datacenter
    • Assist with cable management and rack organization
    • Monitor and maintain power distribution units (PDUs) and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and installations
    • Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various datacenter tasks
    • Prepare regular reports on system performance, energy efficiency, and maintenance activities
    • Document and report any security or safety concerns
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other teams, including IT, security, and facilities management
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and clients
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving datacenter operations
    • Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members
