Job description


Position Summary
The Senior Cyber Claims Advocate provides strategic claims consulting, technical guidance and advocacy for cyber, technology Errors and Omissions (E&O), privacy, media and related professional liability matters. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients on complex coverage issues, litigation strategy, carrier negotiations, policy interpretation, and emerging insurance risks., while supporting client retention, business development, and the continued growth of the FINEX Practice.
Location: Remote - This position is open to candidates residing anywhere within the United States.

The Role
  • Manage complex cyber, technology E&O, privacy, ransomware, network security, regulatory investigations, business interruption, and related professional liability claims from initial notice through resolution.
  • Coordinate cyber incident response activities with clients, insurers, breach counsel, forensic investigators, notification vendors, public relations firms, and other specialists.
  • Advise clients on policy requirements, incident response procedures, regulatory considerations, notification obligations, and claim strategy.
  • Review and interpret cyber, technology E&O, privacy, media liability, crime, management liability, and related insurance policies.
  • Prepare coverage analyses, claim notices, tender correspondence, client guidance, and responses to carrier coverage positions.
  • Advocate for clients in coverage discussions and negotiate favorable claim outcomes with insurers.
  • Lead carrier negotiations involving significant coverage disputes, reservation of rights responses, and coverage declinations.
  • Coordinate communication among clients, carriers, adjusters, counsel, consultants, experts, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead claims reviews, stewardship meetings, and executive-level claim strategy discussions.
  • Establish client-specific claims procedures and help clients develop cyber incident reporting and response protocols.
  • Monitor claim activity, carrier performance, emerging cyber risks, ransomware trends, privacy regulations, and insurance market developments.
  • Partner with Producers, Account Executives, Risk Advisors, placement brokers, and other internal stakeholders to deliver a coordinated client experience.
  • Support new business and client retention efforts through Requests for Proposal responses, presentations, and finalist meetings.
  • Contribute to articles, webinars, presentations, training, and other thought leadership initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate claim information in applicable systems and support claims data analytics and benchmarking.

Qualifications
The Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required. Juris Doctor strongly preferred. A paralegal certificate, comparable legal background, or equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Typically, 10+ years of experience in cyber claims, technology E&O, professional liability, incident response, insurance coverage, litigation, or claims consulting.
  • Recognized subject matter expert in cyber.
  • Significant experience successfully managing complex cyber incidents and both litigated and non-litigated commercial liability claims.
  • Extensive experience interpreting policies and complex insurance programs in order to resolve complex, novel or ambiguous coverage issues.
  • Advanced understanding of insurance law, litigation, and coverage strategy.
  • Ability to develop strategic recommendations and negotiate favorable outcomes
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and make sound decisions during complex, time-sensitive incidents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex coverage matters while providing practical, business-focused recommendations to executives, legal counsel, technology professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong client relationship, presentation, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant web-based business or claims applications.
  • Relevant cyber, privacy, insurance, legal, or claims designations are preferred.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting other claims professionals is preferred.

License:
Active Property and Casualty insurance license preferred. (Candidates who do not currently hold the applicable license must be able to obtain it within 3 months of accepting the position)
The successful candidate will be collaborative, responsive, intellectually curious, and comfortable balancing legal, technical, operational, financial, and insurance considerations in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role.
Compensation
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $150,000 - $220,000 USD annually.
This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
