Position Summary: The Extended Recovery RN, is responsible for providing high-quality patient-centered care to post-operative orthopedic patients requiring extended recovery or overnight care. This role involves monitoring patient conditions, managing pain, preventing complications, encouraging early mobility, preparing patients for their discharge home, and ensuring a safe recovery process. - Assist patients with mobility ensuring safety and adherence to post op restrictions

- Identify signs of post operative complications and intervene appropriately
- Provide wound care, monitor for infections, and manage post anesthesia side effects
- Initiates action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk(s) to the patient, family or hospital employees (i.e., falls, needle sticks, patient concerns).
Communication and Documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, addressing concerns and providing education about recovery expectations.
Operational Responsibilities
- Maintains a professional behavior in attitudes, demeanor, interactions across departments to achieve the organizations mission of providing efficient, high-quality patient centered care
- Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission
- Adheres to HIPPA regulations and maintains patient confidentiality
- Follow established guidelines as stated in hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- Assist in onboarding and training new nursing staff
