Job description

Cahaba Dermatology is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to provide care to dermatology patients in a clinical and procedural setting. Position involves routine patient care and supportive duties to assist providers and other office staff members in the examination and treatment of patients. This position requires the ability to work at both our Hoover and Tuscaloosa offices as clinic needs require.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare exam rooms for patient appointments, ensuring rooms are clean prior to each appointment and stocked with the necessary equipment, instruments and supplies.
  • Review medical history, greet and escort the patient to the appropriate exam room; record the patient interview, history, chief complaint, and baseline information; and perform routine screening tests.
  • Assist physicians in the clinic with exams, procedures, and related clinical tasks such as suture removal, dressing changes, injections and documentation of visit.
  • Provide detailed post-care instructions following appointments
  • Monitor the inventory of exam room supplies and immediately notify the designated employee of supply shortages or impending supply shortages.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills and clinical expertise, maintain individual competence in clinical practices, and recognize and accept responsibility for actions and judgment
  • Assist with scheduling of patient's tests and treatments.
  • Complete daily lab tasks and maintain clinic equipment based upon scheduled maintenance
  • Maintenance of biopsy log, and pathology reports. Record results in patient charts.
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures that are applicable to work performed.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in clinic settings.
  • Participates in quality initiatives, process improvements, and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, and patient safety.
  • Maintains professional growth and development in the nursing field and identified annual core competencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Dermatology experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in Electronic Medical records
  • Experience in scribing and documenting
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and service driven
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Hours 7:30 to 5 M-F
