Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for leading all accounting operations for the business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards. As a key member of the finance leadership team, this role partners with Operations, Commercial, and Supply Chain leaders to provide financial insights that support operational performance and strategic decision-making. The Controller oversees a lean accounting team, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory/Cost Accounting, and Payroll, and is responsible for the month-end and year-end close processes, external audits, working capital management, revenue recognition, and continuous improvement of accounting processes to support a growing business.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory/Cost Accounting, and Payroll, while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee all accounting operations and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, journal entry review, and reporting deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards, project accounting requirements, and inventory and cost accounting practices.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment by developing, monitoring, and improving accounting policies, procedures, and financial controls.
  • Lead internal and external audit activities and coordinate responses to auditors, regulatory agencies, and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Oversee working capital performance by monitoring accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and cash management while partnering with Finance on forecasting and liquidity planning.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations, including sales and use tax, payroll tax, and other required financial filings.
  • Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, automation, and effective use of ERP and financial systems to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, HR, and Finance leadership to provide financial guidance, improve business performance, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606), inventory and cost accounting, and project accounting.
  • Experience leading month-end and year-end close processes, external audits, and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred; SAP Business One experience is a plus) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with financial reporting and business intelligence tools such as OneStream or Power BI is a plus.
