This role involves identifying and sourcing relevant data, developing and validating predictive models, and deploying scalable analytical solutions. The successful candidate will translate complex business requirements into actionable data strategies, collaborate across functions, and communicate findings effectively to influence design-making. A strong foundation in statistical methods, programming, and data engineering is essential to support Walmart's commitment to data-driven innovation and operational excellence.
About the Team:
Join the personalization marketing data science team at Walmart, collaborating with engineering, business, and product teams across digital marketing channels such as SEM, SEO, CRM, and Display as well as working on personalization domain. The team focuses on creating scalable, data driven solutions to optimize marketing effectiveness and drive high-quality demand at low cost. Members analyze extensive data from Walmart's omnichannel commerce to develop models and algorithms that support business growth. Working alongside skilled data scientists, engineers, marketers, and product managers, the team builds advanced marketing science platforms to enhance strategies and deliver impactful insights across the organization.
What You'll Do:
  • Utilize cutting-edge machine learning/statistical/optimization techniques to deliver solutions for projects in the domain of marketing science. Examples of projects include acquisition segmentation, churn prediction, channel optimization, etc.
  • Design statistically sound experiments to properly evaluate the effectiveness and business value of proposed marketing strategies.
  • Build, validate, test, and deploy predictive models using machine learning techniques to explain or predict behavior and solve a variety of business and engineering problems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define interfaces to understand and resolve dependencies.
  • Standardize and build scalable and highly available systems that follow operational best practices.
     
What You'll Bring:
  • 5+ years of industry work experience in an analytical or quantitative role as a Data Scientist, MLE, or similar title, with a strong statistical background.
  • Deep knowledge of A/B and multivariate testing methodology, including statistical foundations, best practices, and pitfalls.
  • Must have ability to manipulate, analyze, interpret large data sources, and tell a story from data through analyses.
  • Strong skills with SQL, Hive, Python, Tableau for data manipulation, statistical analysis, statistical modeling and data visualization.  
  • Experience with API design and construction using Python. 
  • Advanced degree in computer science, statistics, data science, mathematics or other discipline (e.g., economics, psychology) that exposes scientific methods of research and analysis.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • Marketing science and personalization experience strongly preferred.
