The Grady Lab at Fred Hutch is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Trainee to contribute to our ongoing studies on mapping the colorectal cancer progression sequence using the multi-omic approach. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in translational cancer biology, bioinformatics, and epigenetics.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate with researchers and identify appropriate bioinformatics tools to meet the needs of proposed research projects.
  • Perform bioinformatics analysis on datasets.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and generate visualizations to summarize findings.
  • Document research methods, maintain accurate records, and contribute to data interpretation.
  • Collaborate with faculty mentors and team members to develop research questions and analytical approaches.
  • Provide support to Fred Hutch statisticians, bioinformaticians, and computational biologists.
  • Participate in lab meetings, journal clubs, and research discussions.
  • Provide figures & written sections describing methods and results for manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications generated by Fred Hutch researchers
  • Assist in preparing scientific presentations, reports, and potential publications.

NOTE: The role is only open for applicants from a Bioinformatics/Genomic Program from an accredited University. Applicants must also provide a letter from the University validating enrollment in the program as part of the application process.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biology, genetics, computational biology, statistics or related discipline.
  • Experience with data analysis in R, Python, or another relevant programming language.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a research team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, perform in a highly independent manner, and possess strong interest in the biological sciences.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $31.26 to $44.51 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
