Job Description

The Surveyor and CAD Designer will be learning on the job by supporting various design efforts. The Surveyor and CAD Designer will provide survey and CAD support for the technical drafting of projects specific to the land development industry. Assigned projects will vary in size and complexity and be produced in an office team setting with project managers, design engineers, and other CAD operators.

Essential Job Function/Responsibilities

  • Assist with field survey and stakeout.
  •  Assist with Construction Quality Assuranc.
  • Prepare figures and drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information.
  • Research and obtain standards and codes required by client to develop plans.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop and modify designs based on project requirements.
  • Revise drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Assist project managers with model presentation for project teams and client meetings.
  • Conduct design reviews to identify potential issues prior to release.
Qualifications

Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or related software and MS Access databases and/or database design is required
  • Experience working
    • With a team producing plans from survey to final design
    • Efficiently in a high-volume, deadline-driven team environment
    • Under the direction of multiple project engineers
    • Independently and with others while working on multiple projects concurrently
  • Civil engineering experience is preferred.
  • Critical thinking ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn new duties and adjust to new situations encountered on the job within a reasonable amount of time
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and beyond normal business hours when needed

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma. or its equivalent.
  • Experience with Office365; applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
