Job description

Deli Clerk - FT 40 hrs per wk
Department: Deli
Reports To: Food Services Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Salary Level: $17.00 - $24.00/hr
Summary: Responsible to meet the needs of customers by providing prompt, knowledgeable, and courteous service. Full time position available, opening & closing shifts (schedules vary Monday through Sunday).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Customer Service
    • Utilize knowledge of natural foods and customer service skills to respond to customer inquiries and needs
    • Merchandises and promotes store products and cooperates as a team member
    • Keeps informed of membership issues and promote membership whenever possible.
  • Counter Service
    • Take food orders from customers and assist in the sales of Deli products;
    • Maintain a clean and attractive Deli case display;
    • Assist cooks in rotating stock and learn the basics of food preparation and sanitation;
    • Ability to multi-task and work other stations;
    • Assist in keeping the Deli and kitchen area clean;
    • Assist in stocking and maintain products on Deli shelves.
    • Follow the prescribed opening, closing and stocking procedures.
  • Department Maintenance
    • Maintain a clean and healthy work environment
    • Attend staff meetings as required
    • Take on other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities to Safety:
  • Protect the safety of self, co-worker's, and BriarPatch Co-op patrons at all times.
  • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  • Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to supervisor.
  • Follow all company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of self or others.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED certificate preferred. Prior experience working in a restaurant and/or deli preferred.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills:
