Full-Time Companion Needed for Elderly Woman with Dementia

Location:Akron, OH
Schedule:MondayFriday, approximately 7:00 AM7:00 PM (60 hours/week)
Additional days/hours available if desired. Fewer hours may be considered for the right candidate.
Compensation:$33$44/hour (based on experience)
Start Date:ASAP

A loving and devoted husband is seeking a compassionate, dependablefull-time live-out companionto support his 78-year-old wife who is living with dementia and recovering from recent hip surgeries.

The family currently has a support team in place and is looking to add someone who can provide consistent, attentive companionship and become a trusted part of her daily routine. The ideal candidate is someone with excellent instincts, a naturally caring personality, and the ability to anticipate needs while providing encouragement, engagement, and a positive presence throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide thoughtful companionship and emotional support throughout the day
  • Assist with daily routines, including dressing, hygiene, and bathroom support
  • Engage her in meaningful conversation, reading, activities, and mental stimulation
  • Offer patience, encouragement, and a calm, reassuring presence
  • Assist with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and household tasks as needed
  • Take initiative in noticing needs and helping keep the household running smoothly
  • Communicate clearly with family members and the existing support team
  • Work collaboratively with others assisting in the home
  • Accompany the family on occasional travel
Ideal Candidate:
  • Warm, patient, kind, and naturally nurturing
  • Highly dependable and emotionally grounded
  • Has strong intuition and the ability to provide support with minimal direction
  • Experience working with individuals with dementia or similar cognitive challenges a plus
  • Comfortable working alongside an established team in the home
  • Looking for a long-term position with a family
  • Spanish-speaking is preferred, but not required
  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation
