Job description

San Luis Valley Health is seeking a full-time Communications Operator to join our team! This position is the hub of telephone communication for San Luis Valley Health and is responsible for answering incoming phone calls to SLV Health and accurate routing and intake of those calls. This includes scheduling when possible, or accurate messaging to the appropriate staff member or provider.


What You'll Have:

  • High School graduate or GED
  • One year experience in an office setting
  • Strong customer service skills, with ability to answer and direct incoming calls in a timely manner with a positive.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for accurate call routing while maintaining friendly customer service
  • Return any/all abandoned phone calls due to missed calls or hang-ups
  • Verification that all patient and insurance information is entered accurately
  • Coordination with referring physician offices, employers, and/or law enforcement as it pertains to registration requirements
  • Assist with team projects as identified and assigned.
  • Complete confirmation calls and transmit standard instructions to patients (visitor restrictions, check-in process, items to bring, etc.)
  • Responsible to complete all Medicare Secondary Payer verification questionnaire for Medicare patients
