Position Description:
CGI is hiring Data Application Engineers with strong expertise in Java, Spring Batch, and AWS to design, build, and enhance high volume batch applications that power critical data workflows across our platform. In this role, you will develop the core business logic behind scheduled, automated, and large-scale data processing pipelines, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance in a modern cloud environment.; collaborate closely with engineering, cloud, DevOps, and operations teams to deliver robust, production ready solutions.

This is a Full-Time, On-Site, employment opportunity based in either Raleigh, NC, and Smithfield, RI.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Design, develop, and enhance data focused batch applications using Java and Spring Batch.
Build job steps, processors, tasklets, error handling logic, restartability, and performance tuning.
Integrate batch jobs with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL for ETL and data transformation workflows.
Deploy, execute, and support batch workloads in AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS).
Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure smooth CI/CD deployment and operational readiness.
Participate in production support, troubleshoot job failures, analyze logs, and optimize runtime behavior.
Work with enterprise scheduling tools such as Control M (preferred).
Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
Create clear technical documentation for job configuration, design decisions, and operational procedures.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
6-9 years as an Application Engineer or similar role.
Demonstrated experience working with enterprise scale data processing applications and batch systems
Strong hands on experience with Java (11/17) and the Spring ecosystem, especially Spring Batch.
Solid understanding of SQL, relational database concepts, and experience working with large datasets.
Practical experience deploying and running workloads on AWS.
1+ years of Python experience.
Familiarity with DevOps concepts and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions).
Experience working in Linux/Unix environments and basic shell scripting.
Strong debugging, problem solving, and production support skills.
Experience with Control M or similar scheduling/orchestration tools.
Experience with Collibra is a plus.
Exposure to container environments such as Docker or Kubernetes.
Experience in financial services or other regulated, high availability industries.
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Splunk, AppDynamics, or Grafana.
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $56,700.00 $121,100.00.
