Job description

Fab-Tek, LLC Aluminum fabricator of curtain wall, storefront systems, and doors is seeking a full-time CNC Programmer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a CNC Programmer

  • Reviews 3D CAD templates for commercial door hardware installation
  • Makes calculations for programming
  • Translates instructions into a computer automated manufacturing program.
  • Communicates with fabricators and cnc operator on the sequence of operations
  • Checks completed programs by running simulations or testsChooses cutting tools that will be needed.
  • Analyzes job order and performs necessary calculations.
  • Writes programs and modifies existing ones for increased efficiency.
  • Analyzes and selects speeds and cutting tools for programs.
  • Makes improvements to set up times for a task and contouring of complex shapes.
  • Monitors all programs to make sure they follow blueprint instructions and safely and successfully complete the task.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have computer programming skills.
  • Must have excellent reading comprehension skills.
  • Good active listening skills.
  • Must have good problem solving skills.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Knowledge of metal shop work.
  • Must be highly detail oriented.
  • Must have the ability to read blueprints and have knowledge of CAD

Education and Experience
High School diploma.
Knowledge of electronics and machine tools. Experience with programming Mill CNC Knowledge of door hardware strongly desired. Minimum 2 years experience as programmer required.
