What you will be doing:
WWT is seeking a FinOps Cloud Financial Analyst to accomplish the following:
The Cloud Financial Analyst supports the USAF Cloud One (C1) Architecture and Common Shared Services (ACSS) program by delivering Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) expertise, training, and guidance in accordance with the FinOps Foundation Framework, Principles, and Domains. This role helps the C1 Program Management Office (PMO) and Mission System Owners (MSOs) understand and optimize cloud spend across multiple Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, and Oracle) at DoD Impact Levels 2, 4, 5, and 6. The analyst will own recurring financial conversations with MSOs - including monthly or quarterly reviews that break down spend, highlight forecasts, and surface optimization opportunities - and will be a trusted, customer-facing voice for the FinOps team. Using Kion as the team's primary FinOps platform, the analyst will build and maintain dashboards and forecasting models, develop savings plan and reserved instance recommendations, and support budget variance analysis. The analyst will also help lead development of team documentation and processes. Success in this role requires strong FinOps fundamentals, a solid understanding of cloud spend drivers, and the ability to communicate financial insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a DoD/federal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply the FinOps Foundation Framework, Principles, and Domains, along with industry best practices, to support C1 cloud financial operations management
  • Own and lead recurring (monthly or quarterly) financial review conversations with MSOs, breaking down spend, presenting forecasts, and highlighting optimization opportunities
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for MSO financial questions and cost concerns, building credibility with both technical and finance-side stakeholders
  • Use Kion to build and maintain dashboards, reports, and forecasting models that give the C1 PMO and MSOs clear visibility into cloud spend and trends
  • Develop and refine cost forecasts and support budget variance analysis, helping the C1 PMO and MSOs understand drivers of spend deviation from plan
  • Develop savings plan and reserved instance (RI) purchase recommendations, and support ongoing refinement of existing commitment-based savings strategies
  • Help lead development and maintenance of FinOps team documentation, including processes, playbooks, and knowledge base materials
  • Provide cloud financial operations management support, including but not limited to:
    • Compute rightsizing to reduce overprovisioning and underutilization
    • Storage rightsizing and lifecycle management
    • Snapshot, logging, and backup management in alignment with DoD/Air Force data retention requirements
    • Evaluating emerging cloud technologies and services for cost-saving opportunities
  • Gather, aggregate, and analyze cost data such as usage and other cloud cost drivers
  • Provide input to refine existing and develop new cost estimation models and methods
  • Support recommendations to upgrade to newer Cloud Service Offerings (CSOs) to take advantage of the latest technology at the same or similar price point
  • Deliver quarterly FinOps training sessions to MSOs via Government-provided collaboration tools, covering both general FinOps concepts and specific areas of focus as directed by the Government
  • Provide FinOps training materials in original, editable formats for Government use and reuse
  • Support Task Requirement Notices (TRNs) for FinOps-related tasks for individual MSOs on an as-needed basis
  • Maintain a working knowledge of CSP-native FinOps tools and how they complement Kion's capabilities
