Position Summary


The Senior FinOps Financial Analyst supports enterprise budgeting and forecasting while leading cloud financial management activities, including cost forecasting, billing accuracy, and optimization. The role provides advanced financial analysis and modeling, develops dashboards for cloud cost transparency, and partners with IS and Finance leaders to promote accountability and efficient cloud spending. Additional responsibilities include variance analysis, reporting, budget preparation, and mentoring junior analysts.


I. Major Responsibilities


Leads FinOps forecasting activities, including predictive analytics, cloud usage modeling, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis to support quarterly and annual planning.


Implements FinOps billing practices such as usage metering, chargeback/showback reporting, cost allocation modeling, and validation of cloud billing accuracy.


Executes FinOps optimization strategies, including rightsizing, reservation planning, and identifying cost efficiency opportunities aligned with the FinOps Foundation phases: Inform, Optimize, Operate.


Leverages dashboards and reporting for cloud cost transparency using Azure Cost Management tools or equivalent platforms.


Partners with IS, Finance, and operational leaders to promote cloud cost accountability, governance, and continuous improvement in cloud financial management.


Supports and works with customers, managers, vice presidents, and administrators to proactively understand financial needs; provides training on financial systems and reports.


Develops strong working knowledge of forecasting/budgeting software; may assist with system QA, testing, and maintenance.


Performs ad hoc and routine variance analysis and audits; collaborates to develop corrective actions to meet financial targets.


Obtains data from financial systems; designs, prepares, and reviews scheduled and ad hoc reports for presentation and ongoing evaluation.


Identifies forecasting assumptions, prepares annual operating plans, and reconciles data across multiple financial systems.


Participates in committees and work teams related to the budget process; may assist with feasibility studies, market analysis, and business plans.


Trains and mentors Financial Analysts.


May manage external contracts and revenues, including contract analysis, income review, funding, grants, cash collection, and invoicing.


May process DEFAs and change forms; coordinates compensation-related activities and may oversee departmental purchasing and payables.


Complies with departmental policies, attends required meetings, demonstrates quality improvement, and maintains a respectful, inclusive environment.


Performs other similar and related duties as required.


II. Position Qualifications


License/Certification/Education:


Required:


Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Math, Data Science, Economics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.


Preferred:


MBA in Finance.


Experience/Skills:


Required:


Minimum of 2 years of directly relevant finance experience.


Strong understanding of financial management concepts and ability to support development of financial plans.


Familiarity with accounting principles and financial statements.


Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel modeling.


Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work with non-financial managers and manage multiple projects.


Experience with cloud cost management or FinOps practices, including FinOps forecasting, FinOps billing, and FinOps optimization.


Familiarity with cloud financial tools such as Azure Cost Management or similar platforms.


Understanding of cloud usage metering, cost allocation, and chargeback/showback models.


Preferred:


Familiarity with hospital or healthcare delivery systems, financial forecasting, and budgeting.


Comprehensive working knowledge of computer-based financial/forecasting/budgeting techniques.


FinOps Certified Practitioner or equivalent cloud financial management certification.


Experience supporting cloud governance, cloud cost optimization, or IS operational budgeting.
