Job description

Manus works across industries and value chains to accelerate the transition to BioAlternatives - better performing and more sustainable versions of complex molecules traditionally sourced from plants, animals, or fossil fuels. Our platform is proven to work across scales, bridging the Valley of Death between lab and manufacturing more efficiently and more reliably to deliver the benefits of synthetic biology today.
We are seeking a motivated Research Associate in Analytical Chemistry to join our team driving the development of novel biochemical pathways in microbial hosts. In this role, you'll play a key part in analyzing a diverse range of molecules generated through fermentation and enzyme catalysis, while working closely with a collaborative team of scientists across disciplines. You will also have opportunities to develop new analytical methods that enhance the team's ability to deconvolute complex metabolic pathways. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with HPLC and GC, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and a solid foundation in data analysis and laboratory practices. Most importantly, this position offers the chance to grow rapidly as an analytical researcher while learning directly from a highly skilled international team advancing the forefront of biochemical innovation.
Why work at Manus:
  • Opportunity- For motivated, results-oriented team members, our growth creates opportunities for personal and professional advancement.
  • Accountability- You are given the resources you need to succeed and the freedom to make it happen; in return, we hold each other accountable for our high expectations.
  • Passion - We love what we do and enjoy working with others who feel the same way. We embrace the challenge and hard work that comes with working on the cutting edge.

Responsibilities:
  • Precisely execute analytical SOPs to quantify small molecules and proteins.
  • Process and organize analytical data into clear, accessible formats for multiple stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and validation of new analytical methods.

Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or similar discipline with at least one year of experience in a research lab environment.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques (weighing, pipetting, volume measurement) and Microsoft Excel for data organization and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience operating analytical instruments such as HPLC and GC.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with LC-MS and GC-MS instrumentation, including method development, optimization, or validation.
  • Strong analytical skills: data analysis, troubleshooting instrumentation/method issues, interpreting results

Preferred Working Style:
  • Must be very organized and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be a quick learner who is self-motivated and able to ask questions and seek clarity.
  • Must be flexible with day-to-day duties and able to thrive in a start-up environment.
  • Must be an excellent, collaborative team member with strong communication skills
  • Must hold themselves to the highest professional, scientific and ethical standards.
