Job description

As an integral part of our used-vehicle sales team, the Used Car Manager is responsible for sourcing and procuring a consistent supply of high-quality, marketable pre-owned vehicles. This role operates within established financial guidelines and purchasing policies to ensure optimal inventory levels that meet customer demands and align with management’s strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have strong market knowledge, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively to enhance our used-vehicle sales operations. Expected monthly earnings ranging from $10,000-$15,000.

Used Car Manager Compensation and Benefits: 

Used Car Manager Competitive Salary:  Expected annual earnings ranging from $150,000 to $280,000.

Paid Holidays: Hannah Motor Company offers at least 2 paid holidays per year to the Used Car Manager subject to completion of the introductory period and other eligibility requirements as per company policy. 

Used Car Manager Responsibilities:  

  • Discusses purchasing requirements and forecasts sales for future months with general manager.
  • Attends auctions approved by management and purchases vehicles.
  • Approves all paperwork from auctions and provides proper documentation to the office for purchases.
  • Notifies the general manager of anticipated delivery of purchases.
  • Tracks results of auction purchase’s and compares gross profits from auction vehicles with those of trade-ins.
  • Analyzes sales history and local area trends to determine the best purchasing mix.
  • Tracks customer interest in vehicles not in stock (lost sales).
  • Keeps abreast of current market and current valuation of used vehicles.
  • Appraises vehicle trades along with the sales manager.
  • Keeps abreast of and ensures compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations regarding the used-vehicle industry.
  • Work with service/reconditioning manager to get work done timely.
  • Maximize profit on wholesale units by disposing of old age/trades.
  • Pricing and marketing of used vehicles based on market conditions and maximizing profit.
  • Develops and maintains outside sources (wholesalers and retailers) for both buying and selling units.
  • Maintains professional appearance.
  • Attends managers meetings as requested.
  • Test drive vehicles as needed. Must be insurable with company insurance.
  • Manage used car department employees (including lot attendants, UCA, and other department personnel)

Used Car Manager Qualifications:  

  • Excellent communication skills (including listening, writing, speaking).
  • Public relations skills. Ability to effectively establish rapport, present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the general public.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Mental ability to conduct on-going interpersonal interactions.
