Job description

Hourly Pay Range:

$30.46 - $45.69 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – Blood Bank - Per Diem
  • Location: Northwest Community Laboratory           
  • Full Time/Part Time: Resource - Per Diem      
  • Hours: 7am-3:30pm, weekends and holidays as well per dept needs.

What you will do:

  • Performs high complexity and moderate complexity testing accurately and efficiently. 
  • Perform blood bank testing including ABO/Rh typing, antibody identification, and cross-matching.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of test results.
  • Adhere to regulatory and accreditation standards (CAP, AABB, CLIA).
  • Perform quality control and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in inventory management of blood products and reagents.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other laboratory staff to ensure timely transfusion support.
  • Participate in continuing education and competency assessments.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory scientist or equivalent.
  • Certification: Certification by ASCP (MLS or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience: One year of working in Blood Bank experience preferred.
  • Unique or Preferred Skills: Strong understanding of immunohematology principles. Ability to work independently and under pressure in emergency situations.
