What is a full time bicycle delivery?

A Full Time Bicycle Delivery job involves delivering goods, such as food, packages, or other items, to customers using a bicycle as the main mode of transportation. Individuals in this role are typically employed by restaurants, courier services, or delivery platforms and work a set number of hours per week, often around 35-40 hours. The job requires good physical fitness, knowledge of local routes, and the ability to navigate traffic safely while meeting delivery deadlines. It's an eco-friendly job option and is common in urban areas where bikes can be faster than cars during peak hours.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time bicycle delivery worker?

To thrive as a Full Time Bicycle Delivery worker, you need strong navigation skills, physical stamina, and a good knowledge of local routes, often supported by a valid ID and sometimes a clean background check. Familiarity with GPS navigation apps, route optimization tools, and delivery service platforms is typically required. Excellent time management, customer service, and communication skills help you stand out in this role. These abilities ensure timely, accurate deliveries and positive customer experiences, which are crucial for success in fast-paced delivery environments.

What are the main challenges faced by full time bicycle delivery workers, and how can they be managed?

Full-time bicycle delivery workers often encounter challenges such as navigating heavy traffic, adverse weather conditions, and maintaining physical stamina throughout long shifts. Managing these challenges involves planning routes efficiently, staying updated on weather forecasts, and using weather-appropriate gear. Additionally, developing good time management and communication skills helps in coordinating with dispatch teams and ensuring timely deliveries. Many companies also offer support through mobile apps and regular check-ins to help riders stay safe and efficient.

Job LocationWI Distribution CenterJob Description

At Red Barn, we build refurbished bikes that inspire adventure, freedom, and the sheer joy of the ride. As a Bike Mechanic, you'll play a key role in ensuring every bike meets our high standards for speed and quality. We're all about precision - you'll be responsible for assembling, tuning, and adjusting bikes with flawless accuracy. You will not only have the opportunity to work on older model Trek bikes, but you will also get to build high-end road bikes, Rails, and Project One bikes. We're looking for individuals with advanced technical skills, a passion for problem-solving, and a can-do attitude to match. This is a full-time bicycle mechanic opportunity that is not customer facing and not in a retail environment. Instead, you will be wrenching on bikes full time with some of the best mechanics in the country while helping to get more people on bikes every day!

If you are looking for opportunities for growth, you can grow within our team of service or develop enough experience to transition into one of our retail stores. One great benefit to working at the Red Barn is you are only 20 minutes from our headquarters!

What you'll bring to the team:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience assembling a wide range of bikes-from kids' bikes to top-of-the-line mountain, road, and e-bikes.

  • A self-starter mentality with a passion for teamwork and a positive attitude that lifts up those around you.

  • A dedication to delivering awesome hospitality-listening, caring, and always being ready to help, no matter how busy the day gets.

  • An eye for detail and a love for finding solutions-whether it's troubleshooting or fine-tuning a bike until it's perfect.

  • A hunger to keep learning, growing your skills, and staying up to date on the latest technologies and service techniques.

  • Bike shop or bike assembly experience

Areas you'll own:

  • Completing the final assembly, tuning, and adjustment of a full spectrum of bikes.

  • Troubleshooting and updating e-bike systems and software.

  • Stepping in wherever needed to help us meet our goals and deliver outstanding service.

Your schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Compensation:

  • $22-$28 per hour based on technical experience level.

  • Relocation package available based on location

Trek Benefits:

Flexible and fun company culture
Competitive health care
PPO & HDHP medical plan options, Dental insurance, Vision insurance

Free life insurance & optional term life insurance
Competitive vacation package
401(k) with match and Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP)
